Golden Sower Author Visit with Picture Book Author/Illustrator Jared Chapman In-Person
Readers of all ages who love a silly story will want to attend this special author visit. The super silly picture book Seals Are Jerks by Jared Chapman has been nominated for the Nebraska Golden Sower Award in the Little Bluestem (K–2) category! In this laugh-out-loud story, a curious girl named Lorelei is surprised to discover that her adorable seal friend isn’t so friendly after all—because seals eat penguins!

This is your chance to hear where jokes begin and how a simple question—“Are seals jerks?”—can turn into a whole story full of giggles and surprises.
The library has a Safe Child Policy to help ensure a safe and fun experience for your child.
Children ages 7 and under must have a caregiver (16+ years) in the room.
Children ages 8-9 need a caregiver in the building.
Children ages 10 + can join us on their own provided they can follow the library's Code of Conduct independently.
